The latest member of the most enigmatic and prestigious branch of the AMG family tree is the new Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.
As most AMG enthusiasts are aware, the Black Series represents the pinnacle of Mercedes-AMG and does not adhere to a timetable or model release schedule. A new ‘Black’ is only released when Mercedes-AMG selects the ideal vehicle at the ideal time.
The AMG GT Black Series is the sixth member of this family of high-performance vehicles since the Black Series badge was introduced in 2006.
The raw statistics partially explain this performance. A 4.0-liter, dry-sumped, twin-turbocharged V8 engine generates 537 kW (at 6700-6900 rpm) and 800 Nm (from 2000-6000 rpm) for 0-100 km/h acceleration in 3.2 seconds, 200 km/h in less than nine seconds, and a top speed of 325 km/h.
This is the closest AMG has ever come to producing a street-legal racing car. The GT Black Series is lighter, more powerful, and has a completely redesigned chassis and aerodynamics. It has motorsport DNA down to the smallest screw.
